The England Touch Association(ETA) has now adopted a regional selection policy with the future Elite players being selected firstly at regional level and then entering a two day tournament/Trial to select the England national sides which will be entering the European Championships to be held in Treviso, Italy in September 2012.

For more information on this check out the
Regional Franchises page on the England Touch Association website.

The South west area is currently holding development training for both Men's and Women's Touch in the region with the aim of increasing not only the understanding of the game but increasing the overall awareness of the sport throughout the South West.

Players who wish to be considered for the regional sides will have to attend training and continue training should they be selected to represent the region and be considered for the National sides.

ANY PLAYER THAT DOES NOT TRAIN WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR REPRESENTATION REGARDLESS OF PAST EXPERIENCE OR SKILL LEVEL(UNLESS A VALID EXCUSE IS APPROPRIATE)

The women's development training night is on a Tuesday between 2000-2100hrs and is held in Yate Outdoor Centre which is located outside of Bristol on the main M4/M5 route this training is open to all comers who wish to increase there understanding and skills.

The men's development training night is on a Wednesday at the Bristol Metropolitan Academy between 2000-2100hrs. Tom from Bristol Touch runs a social touch night at the same place on a Wednesday (from 1900hrs) so people can have an hours playing followed by an hours coaching. The first session will be held this coming Wednesday (16th Nov).

The South West Development training will continue until after the Christmas period when members of the High Performance team from the England directorship will attend the South West training and a squad will be selected to continue training and represent the South West at the national tournament.
